Based upon successful research results, a computer-based version of th
e Electrical Engineering Aptitude Test (EEAT) has been developed in th
e Department of Electrical Engineering at The University of Sydney, Au
stralia, over the past few years. It permits the easy testing of high
school students in order to measure their aptitude for electrical and
electronic engineering studies with particular emphasis on circuit the
ory. This paper presents a thorough overview of the research and devel
opmental work concerning the implementation of computer technology for
testing student aptitude. Several stages of this work are demonstrate
d and discussed. These include the presentation of the structure of a
computer program, as well as its important features and functions.
