Dl. Kline, OLFACTORY ATTRACTANTS FOR MOSQUITO SURVEILLANCE AND CONTROL - 1-OCTEN-3-OL, Journal of the American Mosquito Control Association, 10(2), 1994, pp. 280-287
The role of octenol as a mosquito attractant is still under investigat
ion. When used alone, octenol has been a good attractant for only a fe
w species. However, there appears to be a synergistic response of spec
ies of the genera Aedes, Anopheles, Coquillettidia, Psorophora, and Ma
nsonia to the combination of octenol and CO2. Further research is requ
ired to determine the potential role of this compound in mosquito mana
gement programs.
