J. Vollert et J. Werther, MASS-TRANSFER AND REACTION BEHAVIOR OF A CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED-BED REACTOR, Chemical engineering & technology, 17(3), 1994, pp. 201-209
This contribution presents a chemical reactor model of a circulating f
luidized bed (CFB) which takes into account adsorption effects and pro
vides a description of the vertical profiles of gas concentration in t
he riser. The oxidation of NO is used as an example of a heterogeneous
catalytic reaction. Mass transfer between the gas phase and solid par
ticles in the CFB was investigated at various temperatures and solids
mass flow rates. The measurements show that the mass transfer coeffici
ent decreases with increasing solids mass flux and that the CFB resemb
les a bubbling fluidized bed as regards gas-solid contacting.
