VALIDATION OF A QUALITATIVE METHOD FOR ES TIMATING THE INFLUENCE OF THE WEATHER ON ACOUSTIC-WAVE PROPAGATION

We first propose a simple method for helping the acoustician to estima te the effects of meteorological conditions on noise propagation, at l east qualitatively. This method is based on a double-entry grid that o nly requires simple meteorological observations. We then compare the q ualitative estimations given by the grid to the results of an outdoor experiment. Human evaluation of climatic conditions is shown to be sat isfactory for a qualitative estimation of their effects on noise measu rements.
