Abstract
Electronic and vibrational emissions from Yb2+/CN- double doped KCl ar e investigated. Resembling the emission of unperturbed Yb2+, a new emi ssion band is additionally observed when pumping a new absorption band centered at 420 nm. This new emission band extends from 400 to 750 nm and simultaneously the vibrational emission of CN- at 4.8 mum is obse rved. Some results and discussion of temperature and concentration dep endence are given, leading to the suggestion of a coupling effect betw een Yb2+ and CN-.
