Abstract
This paper gives an evaluation of crack opening displacements and stre ss intensity factors in terms of elementary functions for the problem of a concentrated load outside a circular crack. The results are obtai ned for both transversely isotropic and purely isotropic cases. A part icular case of a concentrated load at a point on the normal axis is di scussed and compared with the previous analysis. Some results for stre ss intensity factors are presented in a graphical form.
