Abstract
To compare the chemical character and distribution of active centers o n the surface of two polar adsorbents, Florisil and silica, the retent ion of several dyes - heteroazophenols were determined using nonaqueou s mobile phases with different modifiers in thin-layer chromatography (TLC). Linear relationships were obtained between R(M) values and the logarithm of percentage concentration of polar modifier in the mobile phase. The selectivities of the systems investigated were compared. Co nsideration of relationships between R(M) (Fl) and R(M) (SiO2) allows the comparison of the surface properties of the adsorbents.
