Abstract
The threshold value of the external field strength was estimated by so lving the problem of the linear (with respect to the external field) p olarization of the compact part of the electric double layer of a sphe rical particle. It was shown that for 10-mu particles for E approximat ely 100-1000 V/cm (as a function of the mobility of the adsorbed ions) , nonlinearity of electrophoresis should appear due to lateral transpo rt of ions adsorbed on the surface of the particle.
