Fine powders of orthorhombic bismuth vandate (Bi2VO5.5) have been synt
hesized by coprecipitation method. Powder X-ray diffraction and electr
on microscopic techniques have been used to characterize these samples
. The formation of the monophasic Bi2VO5.5 was confirmed. The compacte
d powders sintered at 1070 K have been characterized for their dielect
ric properties as a function of both temperature (300-900 K) and frequ
ency (100 Hz-10 MHz) and found to be superior to those obtained by the
conventional solid-state reaction route.
