Abstract
C27H68Si8, 1, monoclinic, P2(1)/n; a = 9.849(1) angstrom, b = 22.599(3 ) angstrom, c = 18.596(3) angstrom, beta = 94.78(1) angstrom; Z = 4, D (c) = 0.99 g cm-3 , R = .035, R(w) = 0.044, GOF = 1.73. Compound 1 is obtained in one step by the reductive silylation of PhSiCl3 in the pre sence of a large excess of Li metal and Me3SiCl. The structure of 1 ha s been studied by X-ray crystallography and solution phase NMR techniq ues.
