Manganese activated zinc silicate phosphors are prepared by fume pyrol
ysis of metal alkoxide solution in an electric furnace heated at 950-d
egrees-C. The microstructure examined by SEM shows that the particles
were spherical and highly dispersed. The emission intensity of the pho
sphors prepared by fume pyrolysis is stronger than that of the phospho
rs produced by conventional methods. The particle size and the emissio
n intensity of the phosphors were dependent on firing temperature.
