Abstract
A means of analytically estimating suitable manufacturing tolerances f or laminate ply angles is presented, where the tolerances are set to a llow the laminate to meet a specified coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) requirement. The linear terms of a multivariable Taylor series expansion are used to determine the required tolerances. Numerical res ults are presented that show that the tolerances vary with ply angle b ut not with position through the thickness of the laminate.
