C. Staub et al., PRESENCE OF PSYCHOTROPIC-DRUGS IN BLOOD-S AMPLES OF DRIVES BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR CAR ACCIDENTS, HAVING TAKEN ALCOHOL AS WELL, Sozial- und Praventivmedizin, 39(3), 1994, pp. 143-149
The presence of psychotroPic drugs was determined in 383 blood samples
of drivers being responsible for car accidents, having taken alcohol
as well Benzodiazepines were detected in 52 cases and cannabinoids in
31 cases. The characterisation of these positive cases showed a majori
ty of classic benzodiazepines (diazepam, nordiazepam, and bromazepam).
Even if the specific role of these two families of psychotropic drugs
cannot be deduced from this study, the results should make drivers mo
re aware of the dangers of the simultaneous consumption of alcohol and
psychotropes.
