Abstract
On the basis of an electrothermal analogy a method is developed for re fining the heat conditions in the manufacture of optical fluorite by m eans of a more precise design of the heating unit of vacuum crystal-gr owing furnaces through the use of a personal computer. The novelty of the approach lies in the unique iteration solution of not only the dir ect problem of obtaining the temperature field, heat fluxes and result ing conductances but also the inverse problem of determining more prec isely the overall sizes of the structural elements to ensure the neces sary temperature profile.
