Thin films of V2O5 have been prepared by vapour deposition in high vac
uum (10(-6) Torr) and their structural, optical and electrical propert
ies studied. The effect of substrate temperature on these properties w
as also investigated. Analysis of the optical absorption spectra revea
led the existence of two optical transition mechanisms, namely allowed
direct transition and indirect transition. The electrical conductivit
y and Hall effect were measured only at room temperature.
