Hh. Weits et al., DIFFERENCES BETWEEN INTRA-CAVITY AND EXTRA-CAVITY PULSE TIME STRUCTURE IN A HOLE-COUPLED FREE-ELECTRON LASER, IEEE journal of quantum electronics, 33(3), 1997, pp. 314-323
In the strong-slippage regime of a free-electron laser, the optical pu
lse inside the resonator is composed of a series of subsequently growi
ng and decaying subpulses due to a limit-cycle oscillation. The picose
cond time structure of the outcoupled pulses can be quite different fr
om that of the intracavity pulse, in case of outcoupling through a hol
e and for specific resonator parameters, This is demonstrated by autoc
orrelation measurements and corroborated by simulations.
