Abstract
Stereospecific sequential condensation of paraformaldehyde and propion aldehyde with a tripodal bis(triamine)cobalt(III) template rapidly enc apsulates the metal, and a subsequent facile reduction of imine functi ons gives an expanded cavity hexaazabicyclic cage system with unusual structural and chromophore electron properties, complemented by an exc eptional stability and relatively fast Co-II/III electron exchange rat es.
