Abstract
The effects of radiation from a flash X ray machine on an optical wave guide formed in LiTaO3 are described. Transient induced losses are acc ompanied by effects of an electric field generated by the radiation. A t low temperatures, radiation-induced photorefraction dominates the re sponse.
