Abstract
The orthophosphates, alpha- and beta-glycerophosphates, react with HCr O4- in HClO4 medium to give 1:1 intermediates which subsequently decom poses to give products of the reactions. The rate is directly proporti onal to [H+] in each reaction. Thermodynamic parameters associated wit h the equilibrium step and the activation parameters associated with t he slowest step has been evaluated for each substrate. An attempt has been made to correlate the results obtained earlier with other transit ion metal ion oxidants.
