This paper will present the effects of adding methanol, ethanol and gl
ycol individually to pH buffer calibration solutions to increase their
ability to withstand low temperature environments. Graphic solutions
and arithmetic correlations are presented to account for the variation
of the pH output versus the concentration of the added solution. Corr
elation of the temperature correction effect on the reading is describ
ed. A series of equations with which to predict the freezing point dep
ression of water for each solvent will also be made.
