Abstract
(+)-Zingiberene (2), an enantiomer of the naturally occurring (-)-zing iberene (1), has been syntheised for the first time starting from 1-me thanol in 9 steps via the crucial intermediate opyl-0(R)-methyl-1(S)-4 -oxobicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene (3).
