Abstract
Reaction of 1-(2-aminobenzoyl)-1-methylhydrazine (1) with n-butyraldeh yde gives l-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,3,4-benzotriazepin-5(H)-one (2). With aromatic aldehydes, however, the corresponding hydrazones (3) are for med which, under thermal conditions, yield 2-aryl-3-methylquinazolin-4 (3H)-ones (4). With ketones, -1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,3,4-benzotriazepin- 5(H)-ones (5) are the initial products. Chemical and spectral evidence s have been provided for the assigned structures.
