NEW BRIDGEHEAD NITROGEN-HETEROCYCLES OF FURAN AS POTENT ANTIMICROBIALAGENTS

The synthesis of 6-substituted (furyl/5-nitrofuryl)ethenyl]-1,2,4-tria zolo[3,4-b] [1,3,4]thiadiazole has been carried out starting from fura n and 5-nitrofuran ethenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiols followed by the c yclocondensation of bifunctional triazoles with aromatic acids and has been assigned the structures on the basis of spectral and chemical st udies. The compounds have been tested both in vivo and in vitro for th eir antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal action against various str ains of viruses, bacteria and fungi.
