Abstract
The aim of the paper was the analysis of the herb layer biomass (above -ground, below-ground and total) in spruce and fir forests of the Beli anske Tatry mountains. Analysed in detail were 10 sample areas of whic h 6 were in spruce forests and 4 in fir forests. Studied coniferous fo rests are compared and differences in the herb layer biomass are discu ssed.
