The submitted paper deals with the results obtained when studying the
systems containing Hg (II) compounds and organic matter: humic, fulvo-
and aminoacids, glucose, starch and cellulose. The objective of our s
tudy was to investigate the formation of soluble and/or insoluble comp
lexes of the above materials and Hg compounds in environments characte
rized by variable pH values ranging from 1 to 13. The results confirme
d different effects of individual types of organic matter on the migra
tion and accumulation of mercuric compounds, which could significantly
contribute to the knowledge of the movement of mercury compounds in t
he natural environment (important from the environmental viewpoint) an
d in organisms.
