G. Chesshire et Wd. Henshaw, A SCHEME FOR CONSERVATIVE INTERPOLATION ON OVERLAPPING GRIDS, SIAM journal on scientific computing, 15(4), 1994, pp. 819-845
This paper describe show to interpolate in a conservative manner when
solving systems of conservative laws on overlapping grids. Overlapping
grids are a flexible and efficient way to create grids for complicate
d regions. Before now, however, no general method bad been developed f
or conservative interpolation. The basic idea consists of assuming tha
t the interpolation coefficients are free parameters and then deriving
constraints to ensure that the interpolation is conservative. A syste
m of equations is then solved to determine the coefficients. A two-dim
ensional viscous Burger's equation is solved to demonstrate the conser
vative nature of the scheme.
