Inhomogeneous multimaterial line statistics are shown to be locally sy mmetric. These statistics generate, however, non-symmetrical chord len gth distributions. Homogeneous statistics, characterized by invariance under translations, are shown to have symmetrical chord distributions but they may have non symmetrical conditional translation probabiliti es.
