L. Zaman et al., COMPOSITION AND DIVERSITY INDEX OF PLANKTON IN 3 PONDS OF JAHANGIRNAGAR-UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, Bangladesh journal of botany, 23(1), 1994, pp. 33-39
Plankton of three ponds situated within the Jahangirnagar University c
ampus has been studied for one year. The ponds were found to be domina
ted by chlorophycean phytoplankton (34.25-91.96%) and crustacean zoopl
ankton (19.68-85.34%), Shannons' diversity index (($) over bar H) for
phytoplankton varied from 2.13-4.20 bits and for zooplankton 1.82-3.7
bits. Together with chlorophycean algae low phosphorus tolerating spec
ies like Dinobryon sertularia Ehr. was also found to grow in all the p
onds.
