Abstract
The spread of potato virus Y and yield loss due to the disease as infl uenced by the level of inoculum was studied by planting varying per ce nts (0, 10, 20, 30) of infected tubers along with apparently healthy o nes both under spraying (Dimecron @ 1 ml/l) and non-spraying condition s. The inoculum level significantly influenced both spread of the dise ase and yield reduction, the effect being directly proportional althou gh the difference between 0 and 10 % inoculum was not clear. Speard of the disease was slightly fewer under the condition of insecticide spr ay. Yield loss was slightly higher in Kufri Lalima than in Cardinal.
