Abstract
We studied the effects of macrolides on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induc ed airway inflammation in the rat tracheal mucosa. Erythromycin and ro xithromycin dose dependently inhibited microvascular leakage and neutr ophil recruitment induced by LPS. This inhibitory action on vascular p ermeability was abolished by neutrophil depletion.
