Abstract
The kinetics of heterogeneous catalytic oxidation of sulfide ion in al kali solutions by dissolved oxygen with activated carbon and the carbo n component of the slime of green lye (the waste of paper and pulp pro duction) as the catalysts has been studied experimentally. The apparen t and actual rate constants of the oxidation are measured within the f ramework of the model of the first order reaction under diffusive limi tations.
