Abstract
Various surfaces of carbon fiber and its precursors were characterized using electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis. Quantitative analy ses of surface elements, identification of functional groups and depth profile analyses using an argon ion gun were performed to collect inf ormation from various fiber surfaces.
