Surface modification by vacuum deposition of coating layers can produc
e new effective adsorbents catalysts for H2S removal. Metal coatings i
mprove thermostability of sorbents and give the possibility of using t
hem in the H2S containing gas mixtures at high temperatures. Some of t
hem gain catalytic properties during the interaction with H2S due to s
ulfurization of surface W layer to WS2 which is known to catalyze H2S
decomposition to H-2 and S. Most promising materials for H-2 refining
from H2S are modified Al2O3-ceramics and arbon fibers. Construction ma
terial with catalytic active surface can also be obtained by surface m
odification of thermostable ceramics.
