Abstract
People with chronic mental disorder, mental handicap or personality di sorders may experience difficulties in forming intimate relationships and responding sexually. This review discusses the impact of major psy chiatric disorders, mental handicap and substance abuse on sexual matu ration and functioning. The significant social, psychological and biol ogical factors are described.
