Abstract
The Pummerer reaction of imidosulfoxides containing tethered pi-bonds results in the formation of isomunchnone dipoles which readily undergo intramolecular dipolar cycloaddition to furnish 5-substituted alpha-p yridones. An application of the method to (+/-)-pumiliotoxin C was car ried out. (C) 1997 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
