Poly(propylene ether carbonate)diols have been functionalized by phosp
horylation with dimethyl phosphonate (CH3O)2P(O)H. Two new functional
groups P-H and POCH3 have been introduced into the macromolecules. The
new functional groups, mainly P-H, allow the phosphorus-contaiing pol
y(propylene ether carbonate)s to participate in transesterification, a
lkylation (interaction with amines) and dealkylation (interaction with
ammonium and metal salts). The structure of phosphorus-containing pol
y(propylene ether carbonate)diols is proved by H-1, and C-13-NMR and i
.r. spectroscopy and also by elemental analysis for phosphorus.
