The glass transition temperature of poly(4-hydroxystyrene) with poly(v
inylacetate), poly(methylmethacrylate) and various poly(acrylates) hav
e been obtained over the whole composition range. The effect of the si
ze of the side-chain group upon the miscibility has been found to be i
mportant, leading to partial miscibility for the blends with poly(n-bu
tylacrylate) and poly(methylmethacrylate). On the other hand, the solv
ent from which the blend is cast has a noticeable effect on the compos
ition dependence of the glass transition temperatures. Finally, the co
mposition dependence of the glass transition temperatures of miscible
blends has been correlated in terms of some lattice models.
