Abstract
Sum rule of a new type is obtained. On this base a simple model of met al with modulated-jellium background is studied. Linear optical charac teristics of surface are found to differ essentially from standard uni form-jellium model. Positive surface-plasmon dispersion law on Ag is q ualitatively explained.
