M. Kamm et al., ON THE RANGE OF VALIDITY OF WANNIER THRESHOLD LAW FOR INNER-SHELL IONIZATION BY ELECTRON-IMPACT - NE 1S, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 27(12), 1994, pp. 2585-2592
We have measured the relative cross section sigma(rel)(1s) of Ne 1s io
nization by electron impact in the range of excess energy E1 = 5-430 e
V via the intensity of KL2.3L2.3 1D2 Auger electrons. The Auger line i
ntensities were obtained by using calculated PCI disturbed lineshapes
for the decomposition procedure. For the range of E1 = 10-50 eV the ex
perimental cross section could be fitted by a power law sigma(rel)(1s)
is similar to E1mu with mu = 1.08 (6). This value is smaller than the
Wannier exponent mu = 1. 127. A possible reason for such a deviation
is discussed.
