Abstract
Direct measurements of relative permittivity (epsilon(r)) and conducti vity (sigma) of a forest medium are not easy. Therefore, an inverse me thod has been used to determine epsilon(r) and sigma from the results of attenuation measurements at 200, 500 and 800 MHz in forest in India . These results have been compared with the values obtained by various other methods. The electrical constants thus obtained are only gross estimates and would be useful for future first-order modelling studies .
