Abstract
The kinetics of oxidation of DL-methionine by manganese(III) have been studied at 30-degrees-C in aqueous sulfuric acid medium. The reaction is first order each in manganese(III) and methionine. A suitable mech anism is proposed which leads to the rate law. - d[Mn (III)]/dt = k1[H +][Mn (III)][Met]/[H+] + K(h)
