Qx. Guo et al., INCLUSION COMPLEXATION OF SODIUM ALKYL SULFATES WITH BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN - H-1-NMR STUDY, Journal of inclusion phenomena and molecular recognition in chemistry, 17(2), 1994, pp. 149-156
The association of anionic surfactants, viz., sodium alkyl sulfates, C
nH2n+1OSO3Na (n = 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12), with beta-cyclodextrin has b
een investigated by means of NMR spectroscopy. The measurements of che
mical shift changes of certain protons of both host and guest molecule
s indicated 1 : 1 inclusion complex formation. The association constan
ts (K(a)) and standard free energy changes (-DELTAG0) for the inclusio
n complexation reaction vary as a function of the hydrocarbon chain le
ngth of the surfactants.
