This paper describes a simple and easy to implement algorithm for carr
ying out iterative self-consistent calculations of the magnetic record
ing problem. This algorithm does not require the choice of any ''relax
ation parameter'' yet will rapidly converge to a solution for any prob
lem in which the recording medium is characterized by a continuous hys
teresis loop model. Simulation results comparing this algorithm with o
ptimal ''fixed relaxation parameter'' performance is given.
