The reproduce performance of a narrow-track (2 micron) dual magnetores
istive (DMR) reproduce head is theoretically analyzed using three-dime
nsional micromagnetic modelling. Down-track and cross-track response,
side-reading, and nonlinear effects are considered. The DMR blas state
with antiparallel components of blas magnetization is shown to maximi
ze performance. Single-domain stabilization of the antiparallel DMR, c
omparison to the shielded-MR, and the shielded-DMR are discussed.
