Electron accelerators may be used in food processing for the irradiati
on of various spices in both packaged and bulk form. The electron ener
gy range of 2-10 MeV has been investigated, and basic technological pa
rameters have been measured and calculated. Since these studies requir
e suitable dosimetry systems for depth-dose distributions, the applica
bility of various solid and liquid dosimeters are included along with
suggestions of their use for specific purposes. Based on the experimen
ts and computations, recommendations are made for electron treatment o
f dry food products.
