Abstract
The mass splitting of the pseudoscalar mesons eta and eta' is approach ed by taking into account the SU(3)-flavor symmetry breaking and annih ilation effects. An extended version of the Schwinger sum rule and a m ixing angle equal to -19.51 degrees are obtained.
