Mc. Ramos et J. Porta, RAINFALL INTENSITY AND EROSIVE POTENTIALITY IN THE NE SPAIN MEDITERRANEAN AREA - 1ST RESULTS ON SUSTAINABILITY OF VINEYARDS, Nuovo cimento della Societa italiana di fisica. C, Geophysics and space physics, 17(3), 1994, pp. 291-299
The Mediterranean climate, characterized by heavy rainfall very irregu
larly distributed over the year, together with soil features, are the
main causes of soil erosion problems in NE Spain. The main landuse in
this area is vineyard crop for the production of high-quality wines. I
n order to develop control strategies, the erosive nature of rainfall
has been analysed using data gathered at one pluviographic station loc
ated in Masquefa (Barcelona) and the technical conditioning factors ha
ve been discussed. Studies have been carried out on kinetic-energy dis
tribution over the year and the erosive character of rainfall, represe
nted by the R-factor.
