Abstract
Two kinds of error estimators are proposed for adaptive mesh refinemen t for 3D eddy-current problems. One is based on the principle of Ligur ian and the other is based on the numerical discontinuity of the field results. The Ligurian estimators have been established from the compl ex vector field quantities and can be electric or magnetic. The dualit y between H and E formulations is reflected in the estimators based on the discontinuity of the field results. Edge-division technique and a 'local Laplace' algorithm have been used in the mesh refinement imple mentation. A comparison between the different error estimators has bee n given through numerical examples.
