Mj. Elejalde et al., OPTICAL-PROPERTIES OF NI2-RESOLVED SPECTROSCOPY( IN FLUORIDE INVESTIGATED BY TIME), Journal de physique. IV, 4(C4), 1994, pp. 411-414
The optical properties of Ni2+-doped barium-indium-gallium-based (BIGa
ZYT) and lead-based (PBI) fluoride glasses have been investigated. Abs
orption and luminescence measurements performed over a wide temperatur
e range indicate that the dopant ion occupies a site of nearly-octahed
ral symmetry. We observe three luminescence transitions (green, red an
d NIR) which are assigned to the 1T2(1D)-->3A2(3F), 1T2(1D)-->3T2(3F)
and 1T2(1D)-->3T1(3F) transitions of the Ni2+ ion. Steady-state emissi
on spectra and luminescence decay times as a function of temperature h
ave been measured to determine the presence and extent of nonradiative
transitions. In order to correlate glass-matrix composition with emis
sion spectral properties, detailed time resolved measurements have bee
n performed.
