Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of 12 new macrocycles containing tw o, four, or six 1,3,4-thiadiazole rings as subunits are described. The general methodology used is based on the nontemplated reaction of bis (4-methyl-5-(methylthio)-1,3,4-thiadiazolium) diperchlorates with alph a,omega-diamino compounds. Complexation properties of macrocycles 4a-4 c and 4e toward Ag+ are also reported.
